The gathering/shirring foot is used to gather layers of light to medium-weight fabric The shirring foot, sometimes referred to as the gathering attachment, produces a smock-like gather. The underside of this foot is designed so that only half of the foot makes contact with your machines feed dogs. This causes a gather in the fabric as you sew. It is recommended that you set your machine’s tension and stitch length to a slightly higher setting to help with the gathering affect. Use on most single needle industrial sewing machines.
